AN ELEGANT VILLAGE
 

Education:

Primary School: The primary School was started in 1921 with the efforts of Sri Vellanki Seetharamaiah and Sri Hari Satyanarayana Sastry.

Sri Hari Mallaiah Deekshitulu and Sri Prakhya Rajaiah were the first teachers of the school.

Zilla Parishad High School: It was started as a middle school in early sixties and converted as high School in 1967. In the later days, Sri Vellanki Satyanarayana constructed the school buildings in memory of his father Sri Vellanki Ramdas Chowdary. Ssri Nandivelugula Anjaneyulu (Author of Gannavarm Taluk Geography textbook) was the first Head Master of the school. Sri Hari Radha Krishna Murthy, Sri Prakhya Chidambaram were also worked as teachers. Sri Kalapala Emmanuel who did his first B.Ed. from the village worked in this school and retired in early seventies. Sri Hari Sachidananda Sastry, the great grand son of Sri Hari Padmanabhudu was also worked as a teacher in this school. There are two playgrounds to the school, one is of 5 acres and the another one is donated by Kodali Trust (Founder Sri Kodali Subba Rao).

Besides these two schools there are three Anganvadi centers and one Private Convent School.

Chittaranjan Co-Operative Society: Started in 1955 to facilitate the farmers by providing crop loans etc. It is serving the village with crop loans and Savings bank services. Sri Vellanki Purushotham was the first president to the society.

Sri Vellanki Surendrana Rao is the present president elected unanimously.

Gram Panchayat Office: The Gram Panchayat was formed on 1-4-1933 and the Panchayat building was constructed in the year 1971.

 Kalyana Mandapam: Sri Jandhyala Venkata Somayajulu constructed it in 1992 for the convenience of villagers and maintained by him.

Youth Club: For the recreation of the village youth it was started on 31.7. 1971. Sri Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao and Sri Vellanki Kutumba Bhaskara Rao donated the buildings in memory of their grand father Sri Vellanki Kutumbaiah.

Veterinary Hospital: To facilitate the farmers it was started on 31.7. 1971. Sri Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao and Sri Vellanki Kutumba Bhaskara Rao donated the buildings in memory of their grand father Sri Vellanki Kutumbaiah

Milk Collection Center: To facilitate the farmers it was started on 31.7. 1971. Sri Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao and Sri Vellanki Kutumba Bhaskara Rao donated the buildings in memory of their grand father Sri Vellanki Kutumbaiah. Later it was made as a co-operative society and named as Gandhi Co-Operative milk collection Center.

Sri Parimi Gopala Krishna is the president for the society at present.

Old Age home: Sri Vellanki Bhadraiah, Sri Vellanki Suryanarayana, Sri Vellanki Rattaiah, Sri Vellanki Seetharamaiah and Sri Vellanki Satyam who were known as Demudu family has constructed a temple Rama Mandiram in the outskirts of the village and later handed over to Sri Tridandi China Jeeyar Swamiji along with few acres of land. Sri Swamiji raised the funds from the villagers and other devotees to convert it as Old age home.

Primary Health Center: It was a sub center to Katuru Primary Health center. The building was constructed by Dr.Vellanki Anu Prasad M.D.(USA) in memory of his grand father Late Sri Vellanki Venkateswara Rao.

Protected Water Supply: The water tank was constructed in 2000 to serve the needs of villagers.

Swimming Pool: This is a private Swimming pool constructed by Dr.Ranga Puttagunta (USA).

Canals: Ancestors dug four wells and big lake for water facility. In 1854 Sir Arthur Cotton dug Dosapadu Channel with which the water facility for Irrigation was improved.

   Bridge on the Canal: The Bridge on the Canal to enter in to the village was constructed in 1935 and opened by Challapalli Jamindar Sri Yarlagadda Siva Ram Prasad Bahaddur.

Transportation:

Indupally Railway station was built in 1906, which has become the first mechanized transportation.

Bus service between Gudiwada to Kankipadu started from 1921 and after 1940 these services were extended up to Vijayawada.

Upto 1950 the roads were Rubbish roads and in the later days they were modified to Bituminous Roads.

Electrification: The village was electrified in 1959 with the efforts of Sri Vellanki (Dandu) Venkateswara Rao who was the president for that term.

Telephone: The first telephone was connected in 1962 at Post Office as Public Call Office. From 1994 the telephone Connections were widely given and now there are 150 land line telephones working in the village.

Post Office: The place for the Post Office was donated by Kodali trust.
